Shaka Shaw is a digital artist, illustrator, and cartoonist based in san jose, california, where he resides with his family.
when shaka isn’t creating, he enjoys music, tv & film, world of warcraft, and spending weekends exploring california or relaxing in silicon valley with his wife and son.
shaka’s work has earned him a guest artist feature in silicon valley’s own content magazine, several speaking engagements, and a panel seat with the san francisco cultural arts commission.

WHAT ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?my work is heavily influenced by comics, pop culture, and the black experience. growing up, my parents’ home was filled with black art, which instilled in me an early appreciation for black creatives. At the same time, comic books were a huge influence on my artistic journey, from the humor of sergio aragone’s groo to decades of x-men comics. I have always specifically wanted to make comics.
